Don't let the sweltering heat deter you from buying your next home! Finding your home and getting settled in before the winter snowstorms hit should be on your to do list if you are in the market to buy a home in Northeast Oklahoma. There is a lot to think about when making the decision to buy a home, some things you might have initially overlooked. Of course there are the main questions, information about the home itself, the neighborhood, and even the school system but have you thought about how far it is to the hospital if your child gets hurt? How long should it take for the firetrucks to arrive should you need them? What is the crime rate in that particular neighborhood? How about for the entire town? Are there any registered sex offenders in that area? What utility companies service the homes you're interested in? Any good real estate salesperson can direct you to where to find that information. Only the most thougthful ones with your welfare in mind would think to give you that information without you asking for it first. Can you live without the clutter?

One of the biggest problems I see when showing homes is the amount of clutter that fills the house. A house that is organized and free of clutter is appealing to buyers. A house that is filled to the brim with toys, nick nacks, books, photos and personal items will not sell for what it's worth if at all. If you think that filling your closets with your stuff will fix the problem, think again. Buyers open doors, cabinets, drawers, etc. to determine exactly how much storage space is in a home. If that space is full it is difficult for them to see how much of their stuff would fit in there.

If only minor clutter fills your home containers that fit under the beds in the home would be a good choice. I have never seen a buyer get down on their hands and knees to look under the bed but there's a first time for everything! Furniture such as storage ottomans, end tables with drawers and coffee tables with storage space that can hide away some of your things work well too.  If you have a lot of furniture and personal items, it may be wise to rent a storage shed and fill it with all the items you can live without on a daily basis. DO NOT store these items in the garage! That is another space buyers will check out to see how much of their stuff they can store there.
